Copyright PDF Print
Although each author automatically has the copyright of his mental products, it is still customary to mention it in your publication. See the example of a copyright notice as it is to be included on the colophon-page (eg page 2 of the thesis):

Copyright © 2004 INT Lastname, Maastricht

Also you may add a paragraph with the restrictions applicable to your publication.

No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a automated datasystem or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical or photocopying, recording, or otherwise, without the prior written permission of the author (or optional: the publisher).

Copyright previously published articles

If the thesis contains chapters that were previously published in a scientific journal, it is not conclusive that these articles may be included in the thesis. Mostly because the author signs a contract with the publisher of the journal, in which the copyright is formally transferred to the publisher of the magazine. Strictly speaking (according to the law) one should ask permision of the publisher, in such cases.

TIP
